Yoga Teacher Mentorship Program

I know that after my first teacher training I was eager and excited to teach but felt like I needed more support, and guidance to reach my full potential as a teacher. Continuing my personal practice, and attending further trainings helped dramatically – but there were times when what I really needed was 1:1 personalised support.

I’ve worked with a mentor many times throughout my teaching career, and have realised that individualised attention is often far more valuable and specific than learning general principles in a large group. During your initial an teacher training we often learn so much information that is easy to forget the details, or perhaps you learned in a really big group and didn’t get the personalised one – on – one attention you need to hone your skills. Working One – on – One with a mentor is an effective way to grow as a teacher because we create a plan that is completely UNIQUE to you.

Do you want help….

Finding work as a yoga teacher

Creating fun, safe and effective yoga sequences

Giving effective & enjoyable hands on assists

Creating and maintaining a loyal student base

Creating a business plan to help you meet your goals

Managing student injuries in class

Planning, filling and marketing workshops, retreats and private yoga sessions

Making a sustainable living ( like actual money ) as a yoga teacher

During the Yoga Teacher Mentorship Program, we work together in 3 different ways.

During this time we will get super clear on your goals and direction as a teacher. Your Yoga Teacher Mentoring Program is completely tailored to your unique needs and goals and takes into account your personal strengths and weaknesses. These conversations take place either in person or via Skype.

You prepare your questions ahead of time, and I show up fully present and ready to bring my experience and knowledge of teaching over 4000+ yoga classes in both Australia and North America, as well as my training in Psychology and Life Coaching. We get to the heart of who you are as a teacher, what matters to you, and what we need to do in order to get you where you want to go. This initial conversation informs the focus of our work together. There’s no point spending time helping you find your voice to teach in large groups, if what you really want is to develop your private yoga skills. Ya dig?

These sessions are also an opportunity for you ask me all of your yoga teaching questions eg:

How much should I be getting paid?

Should I teach for free?

Do I need to be a member of Yoga Alliance / Yoga Australia?

What do I do if someone walks out of class?

How do I get classes at my local studio?

How do I quit my day job and start teaching yoga full time?

How do I manage beginner and advanced students in the same class?

Based on out initial conversation, you come prepared with a relevant sequence to teach and assist me in a 60 minute 1:1 session. This session gives me valuable information as to ‘where you are’ in terms of your teaching. I get to see you in action, and give you valuable feedback – so that we can work on making you the best teacher you can be. I know this can be scary – but I’ve done it with dozens of new yoga teachers, and it’s one of the most effective ways you can go from good to great in your teaching. This is a totally safe space where I have your best interest at heart, and only want you to succeed. From this session I identify areas for improvement in your teaching that you might not be aware of. I use my experience of attending thousands of classes in a wide range of styles, settings and teachers so we can identify the content for our workshop sessions.

These sessions are practical hands on – let’s get – to – work style meetings. From what we’ve identified in our first two sessions – we break down your goals, and where you need to focus your efforts during our time together. This is where I share my knowledge and experience base with you, and where we work through your limitations together. These sessions will be completely unique and tailored to your needs at the time – however, I come fully prepared from work we’ve already done together. For example, if we’ve identified that you’ve got your sequencing down pat, but what you really need to work on is learning more hands on assists, and gaining confidence giving them – I’ll share with you principles of assisting, teach you specific assists, have you perform those assists on me, and give you feedback throughout the process.

Essential information

The full Yoga Teacher Mentoring Program last 12 weeks, with 1 ( 60 – 90 min ) session per week. Every person is unique – so the exact ratio of consulting / coaching – teaching / assisting – workshop sessions will vary from student to student. We work together to identify what YOU need most. All sessions are held in Sydney ( unless consulting / coaching sessions via Skype ).

Your investment for the entire program is $1500 paid either in full, or with 3 x monthly direct debit payments of $500.

I absolutely love working with new teachers, however due to full schedule teaching, running various teacher training programs, and maintaining my own sense of mindful living, I am only able to take on a select few individuals for my 1:1 Yoga Teacher Mentoring Program. During certain periods of the year, there may also be a wait list for this program. If you would like to work together – or if you have any questions about this program, please email me at cora [at] slowyoga [dot] com, and tell me a little bit about yourself. I will get back to you within 7 days with all the relevant details you need to move forward.

If you want 1:1 support, but don’t have the time to commit to a full 12 week program we can work together on an as needed basis. Please note that this is only for 60 minute consulting / coaching sessions and all one off sessions are held via Skype. Investment $150 / session.
